The birds in ICU
Several days ago I talked about holding a particularly frail penguin in ICU and his neighbour with the bad foot (137 and 136 respectively). I'm really happy to report that both have been moved to the outdoor pen and are on the mend.
I must admit they were a bit of a test for me. I go about my day learning bits and pieces as I go, but I really wondered from how near the throes of death rehab could snatch the birds. I'm no expert, but 136 looked pretty bad to me when she was admitted that day; to see her standing quite beautifully with bright eyes and glossy, black feathers a few weeks later is nothing short of amazing. It's really awesome to see.
